“And [recall] when you said, “O Moses, we can never endure one [kind of] food. So call upon your Lord to bring forth for us from the earth its green herbs and its cucumbers and its garlic and its lentils and its onions.” [Moses] said, “Would you exchange what is better for what is less? Go into [any] settlement and indeed, you will have what you have asked.” And they were covered with humiliation and poverty and returned with anger from Allah [upon them]. That was because they [repeatedly] disbelieved in the signs of Allah and killed the prophets without right. That was because they disobeyed and were [habitually] transgressing.”
(Al-Baqarah 2:61)
SubhanAllah! What did you learn from this Ayah?
Men were given heavenly food, literally dropping from the sky (Tafsir Ibne Katheer) yet they wanted a change! What these human things are, really!
They didn’t have to do any hard labor to earn food,
they did not have to waste time for it,
they didn’t have to die of hunger,
they didn’t have to comprise their Deen for earning Haram money,
they didn’t have to worry about their future!
There would not have been any famine ever.
SubhanAllah! still they were not satisfied only because they did not have SABR (patience) or in other words, they didn’t like the same thing every day even if it had all the blessings and goodness.
It gives you one certain knowledge that humans will never be satisfied in this life. Even if you give them an environment of peace where there is no arguments, nothing to dislike, nobody to quarrel with, no hunger, no difficulties in life, yet this won’t keep them satisfied for a long time because they would just want a CHANGE!
That’s the human being!
That’s the nature of human being!
And that’s the CERTAIN knowledge about the human being from the certain sources!
And Allah knows best.
