ثُمَّ تَوَلَّيْتُم مِّن بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ فَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُ لَكُنتُممِّنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
Then you turned away after that. And if not for the favour of Allah upon you and His mercy, you would have been among the losers.

তারপরেও তোমরা তা থেকে ফিরে গেছ। কাজেই আল্লাহর অনুগ্রহ ও মেহেরবানী যদি তোমাদের উপর না থাকত, তবে অবশ্যই তোমরা ধবংস হয়ে যেতে।
So, from where you turned away?
The previous ayah says that:
And [recall] when We took your covenant, [O Children of Israel, to abide by the Torah] and We raised over you the mount, [saying], “Take what We have given you with determination and remember what is in it that perhaps you may become righteous.”

So, they were given the TORAH and Allah asked them to remember what is in it.
But they turn away from following it.
So, what were they turning away from?
Allah’s Wahee.
That’s when Allah’s RAHMA was taken from them!
But He, Ar-Rahman has mercy on them once again as He is most merciful. But the Ayah 2:64 suggests that it is turning away from following the Quran is what could cause people to be losers.
And Allah knows best.
May Allah not make among those who left the Wahee.
