أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّهُمْ آمَنُوا بِمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ وَمَا أُنزِلَ مِن قَبْلِكَ يُرِيدُونَ أَن يَتَحَاكَمُوا إِلَى الطَّاغُوتِ وَقَدْ أُمِرُوا أَن يَكْفُرُوا بِهِ وَيُرِيدُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَن يُضِلَّهُمْ ضَلَالًا بَعِيدًا
Sahih International
Have you not seen those who claim to have believed in what was revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what was revealed before you? They wish to refer legislation to Taghut, while they were commanded to reject it; and Satan wishes to lead them far astray.

তুমি কি তাদের দিকে চেয়ে দেখো নি যারা ভাণ করে যে তারা বিশ্বাস করে যা তোমার কাছে অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে ও যা তোমার পূর্ববর্তীদের কাছে অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে, তারা বিচার খুজঁতে চায় তাগুত থেকে, যদিও নিশ্চয়ই তাদের নির্দেশ দেয়া হয়েছিল তাকে অস্বীকার করতে? আর শয়তান চায় তাদের সুদূর বিপথে পথহারা করতে।

আপনি কি তাদেরকে দেখেননি, যারা দাবী করে যে, যা আপনার প্রতি অবর্তীর্ণ হয়েছে আমরা সে বিষয়ের উপর ঈমান এনেছি এবং আপনার পূর্বে যা অবর্তীণ হয়েছে। তারা বিরোধীয় বিষয়কে শয়তানের দিকে নিয়ে যেতে চায়, অথচ তাদের প্রতি নির্দেশ হয়েছে, যাতে তারা ওকে মান্য না করে। পক্ষান্তরে শয়তান তাদেরকে প্রতারিত করে পথভ্রষ্ট করে ফেলতে চায়।
First we break down the Ayah as it has 4 distinctive parts connected with each other.
(Part 1)
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّهُمْ آمَنُوا بِمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ وَمَا أُنزِلَ مِن قَبْلِكَ
“Have you not seen those who claim to have believed in what was revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what was revealed before you?”
“তুমি কি তাদের দিকে চেয়ে দেখো নি যারা ভাণ করে যে তারা বিশ্বাস করে যা তোমার কাছে অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে ও যা তোমার পূর্ববর্তীদের কাছে অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে, “
Part 2:
أَن يَتَحَاكَمُوا إِلَى الطَّاغُوتِ
“They wish to refer legislation to Taghut”
“তারা বিচার খুজঁতে চায় তাগুত থেকে,”
Part 3:
وَقَدْ أُمِرُوا أَن يَكْفُرُوا بِهِ
“While they were commanded to reject it;”
“অথচ তাদের প্রতি নির্দেশ হয়েছে, যাতে তারা ওকে মান্য না করে।”
Part 4:
وَيُرِيدُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَن يُضِلَّهُمْ ضَلَالًا بَعِيدًا
and Satan wishes to lead them far astray.
পক্ষান্তরে শয়তান তাদেরকে পথভ্রষ্ট করে ফেলতে চায়।
So far we understand from this Ayah that
(1) Allah doesn’t recognise those as Muslims who seek judgement to Taghut,
(2) Allah commanded Muslims to reject Taghut
Here, we will anyalise who is this Taghut.
So, what is TAGHUT?
This Ayah itself makes it clear what and who is TAGHUT.
It is those who make laws against Allah’s laws,
because having a law (other than that of Allah) in the first place is what those people are referring to them for,
as those ‘Muslim’ prefer that law over Allah’s law.
Thus Taghut is a person/ an authority/ an organisation who makes a law against Allah’s Law.
Now, let’s understand the impact of this Ayah in our situation today.
Who are these Taghut In today’s context?
those who legislate (Parliamentarians),
approve (President, Prime Minister)
enforce (Police, Military),
implement (Judges, lawyers),
work (Employees), in the administration judicial, parliamentary departments,
those who select and elect (voters) those legislators.
Though our scholars even further widen the range of Taghut to include THOSE who even SUPPLIES necessities like milk, water or whatever logistics to these Taghut.
Why these people are Taghut?
Because this people are part of a system which is established to make laws as they wish and as they will, which they named as ‘democracy’.
What’s the status of these people with Allah?
Does Allah tell anything about this?
