And thus We have made for every prophet an enemy – shaitan from mankind and jinn, inspiring to one another decorative speech in delusion. But if your Lord had willed, they would not have done it, so leave them and that which they invent.

আর এভাবেই আমরা মানব ও জিনের মধ্য থেকে শয়তানদেরকে প্রত্যেক নবীর শত্রু করেছি [১] , প্রতারণার উদ্দেশ্যে তারা একে অপরকে কুমন্ত্রণা দেয়। যদি আপনার রব ইচ্ছে করতেন তবে তারা এসব করত না; কাজেই আপনি তাদেরকে ও তাদের মিথ্যা রটনাকে পরিত্যাগ করুন।
[১] এখানে রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া সাল্লাম-কে সাত্ত্বনা দেয়া হয়েছে যে, এরা যদি আপনার সাথে শক্রতা করে, তবে তা মোটেই আশ্চর্যের বিষয় নয়। পূর্ববর্তী সমস্ত নবীদেরও অব্যাহতভাবে শক্র ছিল। তারাও নবী-রাসূলগণ যা নিয়ে আসত, তার বিরুদ্ধে লেগে যেত। অতএব, আপনি এতে মনঃক্ষুন্ন হবেন না। [সা’দী]।
Bengali – Tafsir Ahsanul Bayaan
এরূপে আমি শয়তান মানব ও শয়তান জ্বিনকে প্রত্যেক নবীর শত্রু করেছি।[১] তারা প্রতারণার উদ্দেশ্যে তাদের একে অন্যকে চমকপ্রদ বাক্য দ্বারা প্ররোচিত করে থাকে;[২] যদি তোমার প্রতিপালক ইচ্ছা করতেন, তাহলে তারা এ করত না।[৩] সুতরাং তুমি তাদেরকে এবং তাদের মিথ্যা রচনাকে পরিত্যাগ কর।
[১] এটা সেই কথাই, যা বিভিন্নভাবে রসূল (সাঃ)-এর সান্ত্বনার জন্য বলা হয়েছে। অর্থাৎ, তোমার পূর্বে যত নবীই এসেছিল, তাদের সকলকে মিথ্যাজ্ঞান করা হয়েছে, তাদেরকে কষ্ট দেওয়া হয়েছে এবং আরো অনেক কিছু তাদের সাথে করা হয়েছে। বলার উদ্দেশ্য হল, যেভাবে তারা ধৈর্য ও সাহসিকতার সাথে কাজ করেছে, তুমিও ঐভাবে সত্যের এই শত্রুদের বিরুদ্ধে ধৈর্য ও দৃঢ়তা প্রদর্শন কর। এ থেকে এটাও জানা গেল যে, শয়তানের অনুসারী দল জ্বিনদের মধ্য থেকেও আছে এবং মানুষদের মধ্য থেকেও। আর এরা হল উভয় দলের অবাধ্য, সীমালঙ্ঘনকারী এবং দাম্ভিক প্রকৃতির লোকেরা।
[২] وَحْيٌ গোপন কথাকে বলে। অর্থাৎ, মানুষ ও জ্বিনদের ভ্রষ্ট করার জন্য একে অপরকে ছল-চাতুরী ও চালাকি শিখায়। যাতে তারা মানুষদেরকে ধোঁকা ও প্রতারণায় ফেলতে পারে। আর সাধারণতঃ এটা দেখাও যায় যে, শয়তানী কর্মসমূহে মানুষ একে অপরকে অতি উৎসাহের সাথে সহযোগিতা করে, যার কারণে অন্যায়ের প্রসার খুব তাড়াতাড়ি ঘটে।
[৩] অর্থাৎ, মহান আল্লাহ শয়তানের এই সমস্ত ষড়যন্ত্রকে নিষ্ফল করতে সক্ষম, কিন্তু তিনি জোরপূর্বক এ রকম করবেন না। কেননা, এ রকম করা তাঁর সেই নিয়ম-নীতির বিপরীত, যা তিনি তাঁর ইচ্ছা অনুযায়ী এখতিয়ার করেছেন এবং এর হিকমত ও যৌক্তিকতা তিনিই ভাল জানেন।

এভাবে আমি প্রত্যেক নাবীর জন্য মানুষ আর জ্বীন শয়তানদের মধ্য হতে শত্রু বানিয়ে দিয়েছি, প্রতারণা করার উদ্দেশ্যে তারা একে অপরের কাছে চিত্তাকর্ষক কথাবার্তা বলে। তোমার প্রতিপালক ইচ্ছে করলে তারা তা করত না, কাজেই তাদেরকে আর তাদের মিথ্যে চর্চাকে উপেক্ষা করে চল।
Bengali – Mujibur Rahman
আর এমনিভাবেই আমি প্রত্যেক নাবীর জন্য বহু শাইতানকে শত্রুরূপে সৃষ্টি করেছি; তাদের কতক মানুষ শাইতানের মধ্য হতে এবং কতক জিন শাইতানের মধ্য হতে হয়ে থাকে, এরা একে অন্যকে কতকগুলি মনোমুগ্ধকর ধোকাপূর্ণ ও প্রতারণাময় কথা দ্বারা প্ররোচিত করে থাকে। তোমার রবের ইচ্ছা হলে, তারা এমন কাজ করতে পারতনা। সুতরাং তুমি তাদেরকে এবং তাদের মিথ্যা রচনাগুলিকে বর্জন করে চলবে।
Bengali – Muhiuddin Khan
এমনিভাবে আমি প্রত্যেক নবীর জন্যে শত্রু করেছি শয়তান, মানব ও জিনকে। তারা ধোঁকা দেয়ার জন্যে একে অপরকে কারুকার্যখচিত কথাবার্তা শিক্ষা দেয়। যদি আপনার পালনকর্তা চাইতেন, তবে তারা এ কাজ করত না।
Bengali – Fozlur Rahman
এমনিভাবে আমি প্রত্যেক নবীর জন্য কতিপয় শত্রু নিয়োগ করেছি। তারা হল মানুষ ও জ্বিনদের মধ্যে শয়তানেরা। তারা ধোঁকা দেওয়ার জন্য একে অপরকে কারুময় কথাবার্তা শিখিয়ে দেয়। তবে আল্লাহ চাইলে তারা এটা করত না। অতএব, তুমি তাদের কথা ও তারা যা বানিয়ে বলে তার কথা ছেড়ে দাও।

আর এভাবেই আমি প্রত্যেক নবীর শত্রু করেছি মানুষ ও জিনের মধ্য থেকে শয়তানদেরকে, তারা প্রতারণার উদ্দেশ্যে একে অপরকে চাকচিক্যপূর্ণ কথার কুমন্ত্রণা দেয় এবং তোমার রব যদি চাইতেন, তবে তারা তা করত না। সুতরাং তুমি তাদেরকে ও তারা যে মিথ্যা রটায়, তা ত্যাগ কর।

In the same way We assigned to each prophet an enemy, evil humans and evil jinn. They suggest alluring words to one another in order to deceive- if it had been your Lord’s will, [Prophet], they would not have done this: leave them to their inventions-

So it is that, for every prophet, We have set up enemies,-the devils of mankind and jinn-who seduce one another with alluring rhetoric in order to deceive-Had Allah willed, they would have not done it. So, leave them alone with what they forge-

And so We have appointed to every Prophet an enemy, just as We have appointed these your enemies (and this [`adwwan, `an enemy’, is substituted by [the following, shaytn, `devils’]) devils, the rebels, of mankind and jinn who inspire, whisper, fine speech to each other, the falsehood that is disguised as such [fine speech], in delusion, that is, in order to delude them; yet, had your Lord willed, they would never have done it, that mutual inspiration. So leave them, let the disbelievers be, with what they fabricate, of disbelief and otherwise, of what has been adorned for them — this was [revealed] before the command to fight [them].
