হাদিস নম্বরঃ ২৫

২/১৭. “অতঃপর যদি তাঁরা তাওবাহ করে, সালাত কায়িম করে এবং যাকাত দেয় তবে তাঁদের পথ ছেড়ে দাও।” (আত-তাওবাহ ৯/৫) 

ইবনু ‘উমার (রাযি.) হতে বর্ণিত। আল্লাহর রাসূল সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বলেনঃ

আমি লোকদের সাথে যুদ্ধ চালিয়ে যাবার জন্য নির্দেশিত হয়েছি, যতক্ষণ না তারা সাক্ষ্য দেয় যে, আল্লাহ্ ব্যতীত প্রকৃত কোন উপাস্য নেই ও মুহাম্মাদ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম আল্লাহর রাসূল, আর সালাত প্রতিষ্ঠা করে ও যাকাত আদায় করে। তারা যদি এগুলো করে, তবে আমার পক্ষ হতে তাদের জান ও মালের ব্যাপারে নিরাপত্তা লাভ করলো; অবশ্য ইসলামের বিধান অনুযায়ী যদি কোন কারণ থাকে, তাহলে স্বতন্ত্র কথা। আর তাদের হিসাবের ভার আল্লাহর উপর অর্পিত। (মুসলিম ১/৮ হাঃ ২২) (আধুনিক প্রকাশনীঃ ২৪, ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশনঃ ২৪)

(17) Chapter: (The Statement of Allah Jalla Jalalahu) “But if they repent [by rejecting Shirk (polytheism) and accept Islamic Monotheism] and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and give Zakat then leave their way free.” Narrated Ibn ‘Umar: Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said:

“I have been ordered (by Allah) to fight against the people until they testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ), and offer the prayers perfectly and give the obligatory charity, so if they perform that, then they save their lives and property from me except for Islamic laws and then their reckoning (accounts) will be done by Allah.

” بَابُ: {فَإِنْ تَابُوا وَأَقَامُوا الصَّلاَةَ وَآتَوُا الزَّكَاةَ فَخَلُّوا سَبِيلَهُمْ} حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُسْنَدِيُّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو رَوْحٍ الْحَرَمِيُّ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ وَاقِدِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يُحَدِّثُ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏

“‏ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَشْهَدُوا أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ، وَيُقِيمُوا الصَّلاَةَ، وَيُؤْتُوا الزَّكَاةَ، فَإِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ عَصَمُوا مِنِّي دِمَاءَهُمْ وَأَمْوَالَهُمْ إِلاَّ بِحَقِّ الإِسْلاَمِ، وَحِسَابُهُمْ عَلَى اللَّهِ ‏”‏‏.

Ibn ‘Umar narrated: ” ‘Umar delivered a Khutbah to us at Al-Jabiyah. He said: ‘O you people! Indeed I have stood among you as Rasulullah Sallillahu ALaihi Wa Sallam stood among us, and he said:

“I order you (to stick to) my Companions, then those who come after them, then those who come after them.
Then lying will spread until a man will take an oath when no oath was sought from him, and a witness will testify when his testimony was not sought.

Sunan At-Tirmidhi. Vol 4, Book 31, Book of Al-Fitan, Hadith No. 2165

Their explaining/ understanding of this Ayah remind me of those people who denied to pay Zakah anymore after Rasulullah Sallillahu Alaihi Wa Sallam’s death.

These people explained the following Ayah that paying Zakah is only applicable to Rasulullah.

At-Taubah 9:103

خُذۡ مِنۡ أَمۡوَٰلِهِمۡ صَدَقَةࣰ تُطَهِّرُهُمۡ وَتُزَكِّيهِم بِهَا وَصَلِّ عَلَيۡهِمۡۖ إِنَّ صَلَوٰتَكَ سَكَنࣱ لَّهُمۡۗ وَٱللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ 

“তাদের সম্পদ থেকে সদাকা নাও। এর মাধ্যমে তাদেরকে তুমি পবিত্র ও পরিশুদ্ধ করবে। আর তাদের জন্য দো‘আ কর, নিশ্চয় তোমার দো‘আ তাদের জন্য প্রশান্তিকর। আর আল্লাহ সর্বশ্রোতা, সর্বজ্ঞ।”

“Take, [O Muḥammad], from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase, and invoke [Allāh’s blessings] upon them. Indeed, your invocations are reassurance for them. And Allāh is Hearing and Knowing.”

Subhanallah! If you really carefully analyse the Ayah you might find their arguments somewhat understandable. Because they thought clearly it was mentioned Dua and blessing directly from  Rasulullah! Since Rasulullah Sallillahu Alaihi Wa Sallam is not there anymore, then, how paying Zakah is applied to them anymore! Subhanallah, got some logic.

Yet their understanding and deniel of paying of Zakah was treated by fighting against them by Abu Bakr Radiallahu anhu.

Then, what about the understanding of these people about the statement of Rasulullah, “I am ordered to fight….”?

Where did they get this from? Did they provide any evidence that says it is only applied to the Arab Mushrikun as they explained?

Did any previous Ulama including the Ulama of Madhabs ever explained it that it was only applied to Arab Mushrikun?

Then, where they get thus from?

Rather it goes in line with the understanding of giving distorting understanding of Jihad.

And these all actually goes to the root of all evils, living with Shirk by living and submitting willingly to the Kuffar’s authority and thus sugarcoating their Dawah work by distorting Allah’s Deen.
