Rasulullah(ﷺ) said,

“O Abu Huraira! Where have you been?”

I replied,

“I was Junub, so I disliked to sit in your company.”

Rasulullah (ﷺ) said,

“Subhan Allah! A believer never becomes impure.”

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرٌ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم لَقِيَهُ فِي بَعْضِ طَرِيقِ الْمَدِينَةِ وَهْوَ جُنُبٌ، فَانْخَنَسْتُ مِنْهُ، فَذَهَبَ فَاغْتَسَلَ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَقَالَ ‏‏ أَيْنَ كُنْتَ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ‏”‏‏.‏ قَالَ كُنْتُ جُنُبًا، فَكَرِهْتُ أَنْ أُجَالِسَكَ وَأَنَا عَلَى غَيْرِ طَهَارَةٍ‏.‏ فَقَالَ ‏”‏ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ، إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ لاَ يَنْجُسُ ‏”‏‏.‏”

Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet (ﷺ) came across me in one of the streets of Medina and at that time I was Junub. So I slipped away from him and went to take a bath. On my return the Prophet (ﷺ) said, “O Abu Huraira! Where have you been?” I replied, “I was Junub, so I disliked to sit in your company.” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Subhan Allah! A believer never becomes impure.”

My Comments:

Please be informed that there are other Hadith that states that Malikah (angels) do not stay in a house while a person in Janaba. Thats suggests that if for any reason you have to go out and meet people while in Janaba (without WUDU or Ghusl) than you might MISS the protection from Malaikah that supposed to protect you while you going out making ‘Duas while going out’. And ALlah knows best.

Therefore it is recommended that at least you make WUDU before going out but in case of urgency, this Hadith will be a support in your case. And Allah knows best. This Hadith also an indication of Islam’s rituals being easy. Though a Mu’min would never think to go out while in Janaba but Al Hamdulillah this Hadith makes it easy for such conservative person too. And Allah knows best.
