[He] who made for you the earth a bed [spread out] and the sky a ceiling and sent down from the sky, rain and brought forth thereby fruits as provision for you. So do not attribute to Allah equals while you know [that there is nothing similar to Him].
Bismillah! Al Hamdulillah!
Wa AsSalatu AsSalamu A’ala Rasulallah!
My Comments and Understanding:
Allah PROHIBITS mankind (2:21) not to set EQUALS with him. That’s easy to understand from the translation, right? But to really realize the meaning you just have to reflect when and how Allah said it. Read the Ayah again.
When did Allah prohibit not to set equal?
While he was describing his ACTS, his FAVOURS.
Did you notice that?
Therefore when you give credit for those things to others you are setting equal with Allah.
And you know what does that mean, nothing but a clear SHIRK.
- Allah mentions here the blessings of earth as a whole (earth a bed) and then 7 layers of atmosphere (the sky a ceiling), weather (rain) and fruits and vegetables (brought forth thereby fruits as provision).
- Let’s just discuss one blessing, rain so that we can understand the others too.
What usually people say and the Muslims alike when they discuss about weather? - They talk about how global climate has changed, how the season has changed all over the world etc. and all they attribute it to just one reason ‘global warming’, as if Allah has nothing to do with it.
- But Muslim should know it is Allah who sends winds, clouds, rain etc.
Yes, truly, men’s hand brought disaster for themselves.
But Muslim should not forget that things happen with Allah’s permission.
And for sure, Allah deserves the credit for the nature.
Therefore, giving credit to something else constitute Shirk.
And Allah knows best.
May Allah protect us from the built-in Shirk we are put in this modern times.
Ameen.
