Saheeh Muslim 4666-(43/1841). Imam/ the authority/ The Khilafah is the shield of the Muslims.

হাদিস নম্বরঃ ৪৬৬৬

৪৬৬৬-(৪৩/ ১৮৪১) ইবরাহীম (রহঃ) ….. আবূ হুরাইরাহ (রাযিঃ) এর সূত্রে নাবী সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম হতে বর্ণিত। তিনি বলেন,

ইমাম বা শাসক ঢাল স্বরূপ।
তার নেতৃত্বে যুদ্ধ করা হয় এবং শত্রুর ক্ষতি থেকে নিষ্কৃতি পাওয়া যায়।
সে যদি তাকওয়া বা আল্লাহভীতি ও ন্যায় বিচারের ভিত্তিতে শাসনকার্য পরিচালনা করে, তবে তার জন্য সে পুরস্কৃত হবে। আর যদি ন্যায় ব্যতীত অন্য কিছু আদেশ করে তবে সে পাপের জন্য দায়ী হবে।

It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Prophet of Allah (ﷺ) said:

A commander (of the Muslims) is a shield for them. They fight behind him and they are protected by (him from tyrants and aggressors).

If he enjoins fear of Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, and dispenses justice, there will be a (great) reward for him; and if he enjoins otherwise, it redounds on him

. باب فِي الإِمَامِ إِذَا أَمَرَ بِتَقْوَى اللَّهِ وَعَدَلَ كَانَ لَهُ أَجْرٌ ‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ، حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شَبَابَةُ، حَدَّثَنِي وَرْقَاءُ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏

“‏ إِنَّمَا الإِمَامُ جُنَّةٌ يُقَاتَلُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ وَيُتَّقَى بِهِ فَإِنْ أَمَرَ بِتَقْوَى اللَّهِ 
عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَعَدَلَ كَانَ لَهُ بِذَلِكَ أَجْرٌ وَإِنْ يَأْمُرْ بِغَيْرِهِ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْهُ ‏”‏.

Bismillah! Al Hamdulillah!
Wa AsSalatu AsSalamu A’ala Rasulallah!

What’s the word for ‘Ameer’/ leader, Khalifah used here?
‘Imam’

What Rasululullah meant by ‘Imam’?
Leader, Authority, Khalifah.
Those were the ‘inheritor of the prophets’, true representative of the prophets.

But, what do we see today?
The ‘Imam’ those who were the Ameer, gone long back.
The ‘Imam’ those who were the Khalifah gone long back.

So, what remains of ‘Imam’?
Only the Imam who leads Salah.
The real function of Imam has gone long back.

Are these Imam are the ‘inheritor of the prophets’?
No way!

The ‘inheritor of the prophets’ are those Imam/ Ulama who truly represents Rasulullah Sallallahu A’laihi Wa Sallam.

Allahu A’lam.
May Allah grant us the Shield of the Ummah.
May Allah grant us the Imam who are the true inheritor of the prophets.
