This dunyā will never be a place of rest for the true believer, nor do we seek it as a place of refuge and comfort. We use this dunyā to worship Allāh, do what He commanded us to do and work towards attaining Jannah — the place of true comfort and rest.
So the believer should never expect this life to be smooth and easy. The only thing that makes trials easy is being close to Allāh, being patient, asking for steadfastness, having tawakkul, and remembering the nature of this dunyā. Also, one of the blessings of experiencing trials is to appreciate Allāh’s promise of paradise for the believers and it makes us yearn for it more.

“But whoever desires the Hereafter and exerts the effort due to it while he is a believer – it is those whose effort is ever appreciated [by Allah ].”

“Or do you think that you will enter Paradise while Allah has not yet made evident those of you who fight in His cause and made evident those who are steadfast?”
We can never expect to enter Jannah without proving our worthiness to Allāh, and despite the trials, we must realise that soon they will come to an end as nothing in this dunyā is permanent and lasting. That should cause one to be so grateful as even the most severe trials won’t last and is a means of purification when one is patient. We should fear the trial of death, the trials of the grave, the Day of Judgement and the Fire the most. The trials of this dunyā will always come to an end, but the trials of the Ākhirah are the true trials which we must prepare for.
It’s easy to complain and get so consumed in the trials one faces, but always remember those who are facing much harsher trials and thank Allāh for everything He has given you.
Allāh سُبحانه وتعالى says amongst many other Āyat regarding gratefulness,

“And We had certainly given Luqman wisdom [and said], “Be grateful to Allah .” And whoever is grateful is grateful for [the benefit of] himself. And whoever denies [His favor] – then indeed, Allah is Free of need and Praiseworthy.”
Always being grateful to Allāh is one of the secrets to truly being content no matter what you experience.
Also, regardless of what you are going through, remember this,

Be with Allāh, and Allāh will be with you. Let trials bring you closer to Allāh and let it remind you of the true reality of this temporary dunyā. Make the Qur’ān your closest companion, reflecting upon its lessons; it will make every trial seem so insignificant. Attaching yourself to Allāh and reflecting upon His words, the uncreated speech of Allāh, will bring life to the heart and give you all the strength you need to get through whatever trials you are facing.
